Landing Brand Sponsorship | Key Things to Prepare

Brand Awareness

Making sure the brand knows you exist. Tagging them constantly even if you don't get any response will put you on the radar. It takes time and consistency, doesn't tag 5 times and give up from there.

Make a List (equipment)

Listing what you need and want will give you an idea of who to reach out to. You can't randomly want any equipment cause you want to strategize your brand. There is no such thing as aiming too high. You need to acquire what will benefit you in the long run. For example, if you need lighting equipment that will help you enhance your photos to get a certain client that's what you need to put on your list.

Pitching an Idea

Before you reach out to a brand for sponsorship you need to make sure you are selling something to them that will generate a "return on their investment". If you reach out and say "Can you send me a camera cause I have awesome photos" is not going to fly. You want to make it personable and tell them why will sending you their product benefit them as a company. Remember brands such as Canon, Sony, Profoto's main goal is to sell their products.

Aim for small Brands first

Aiming for small brands will help you build and practice those relationships. Mastering contracts regarding what needs to be delivered and when. This will allow you to practice that professionalism when dealing with bigger brands.

FREE doesn't exist

You don't get free equipment there's always exchange for what is given. You always need to make sure that agreements are written via email or on a contract.

Nurture the Relationship

Nurturing the relationship will get more equipment. Remember there is no money involved in this sponsorship but that doesn't mean you can't make them a client. There's always a possibility that they can become paying clients base on your work and how you treat them. Building that relationship will only help your journey.
